League Provided Mentors
Are you a league that wants to increase retention of your current referees, help reduce avoidable tense situations, and help your referees improve? The SRC is here to help you provide mentoring!
The SRC will provide...
A trained and certified mentor assigned by the SDA. Leagues may not assign their own mentor. For some leagues/tournaments, the SDA may partner with the DRA to assign qualified mentors.
Posting of your mentoring opportunities on the SRC website and an encouragement for referees to sign up to work.
The league or organization sponsoring a class will provide...
A single point of contact (usually an assignor) who can communicate with mentors where referees are that could use support.
The league/tournament pays the mentor fee of $35 per game for games with 30 minute halves or less or $45 for games exceeding 30 minutes per half. The league/tournament may set a maximum number of games to be mentored in order to remain within budget.
If the mentor travels more than 70 miles one, the league provides lodging for mentors. Lodging may be double occupancy, but in some cases must be single occupancy due to mentor medical needs.
