Emeritus Referee

2026 Licensing Begins in July

All 2025 classes have been completed at this time. The 2026 Licensing Year begins on July 1, 2025. At that time, we will assess class needs state-wide with a goal of posting all relicensing classes by mid-July. ALL RETURNING REFEREE WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE RE-LICENSING BY OCTOBER 1, 2025 FOR THE 2026 YEAR.

Earn or renew your Regional or National Emeritus Referee license...

All the steps below apply to new and returning Regional Emeritus or National Emeritus referees.

SOCCER EXPERIENCE: Licensed by US Soccer as a Regional or National Referee in 2023, 2024, AND 2025.
AGE: Minimum 45 years of age
COST: $85 annually plus a $22 background check every 2 years ($150 if you have lived internationally)
ONLINE CLASS: Once you receive permission, register and complete the Idaho Regional Emeritus Class (COMING IN JULY) or Idaho National Emeritus Class (COMING IN JULY)

DO THE NEXT 3 STEPS AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE ONLINE CLASS...

IN PERSON TRAINING: Attend the mandatory Regional Referee and Emeritus Referee Training held once a year. This must be done in Idaho. This year, it is on zoom on: a date in mid-July TBA.
LICENSE: After you have completed 100% of all the steps listed above, you will receive an email with your license. Your referee badge will be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks. Your license is valid for a calendar year (January-December), then you must relicense each year. We begin re-licensing in July each year.
